The long-awaited expressway, KMP, finally gets inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 19 November 2018 with a delay of almost 9 years. Its construction began in 2006. The 135-KM long Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway is also known as Western Peripheral Expressway. But do you know it has an eastern counterpart as well? Yes, it is called the Eastern Peripheral Expressway or the Kundli-Ghaziabad-Palwal Expressway. And do you know this expressway was completed in a record time! Yes, this project was launched in 2015 and on May 27, 2018, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated it for the public use.
KGP connects Kundali and Palwal via Ghaziabad, which is the city that holds a huge amount of commuters going towards Delhi every day. Hence, with this expressway coming into existence, it has eased out traffic to a great extent. Today, the commuting time from Ghaziabad to Delhi has got reduced almost by half.
The KGP Expressway has not only benefited the commuters and the traffic but the real estate market as well. Pockets like Raj Nagar Extension and Modi Nagar have now become the hot destinations for affordable housing buyers. And why not, these pockets were already self-sufficient and have their own ecosystem. They only lacked connectivity and exposure. The KGP Expressway, together with Delhi-Meerut Expressway has mended this gap completely now.
There is a huge number of homebuyers who fall under the mid-income category and are willing to buy their own dream home. But, most of them work in Delhi and look for properties which are easily accessible. Unfortunately, Delhi’s real estate market is already saturated. And properties in Gurgaon are beyond their reach. They could get their desired homes in Raj Nagar Extension and Modi Nagar within the desired budget, but could not make the move due to distance. With KGP Expressway, this problem is completely eliminated. One can reach from Connaught Place to Raj Nagar Extension in just 30-35 minutes.
Expressways are, indeed, the lifeline to socio-economic developments. This statement is truly justified with KGP Expressway as it is now guiding the development in Ghaziabad, especially Raj Nagar Extension and Modi Nagar.
